Strengthening Global Aquaculture Ties Between Norway and Saudi Arabia with NAQUA
We are proud to announce a major milestone for MAT-KULING: the signing of a new contract with NAQUA (National Aquaculture Group), one of the largest aquaculture operations in the world and a key player in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s rapidly growing seafood industry.
This strategic partnership marks the beginning of an exciting project—the development and delivery of a next-generation hatchery for Barramundi, a premium species with increasing global demand. The hatchery is set to become the most advanced and technologically innovative facility of its kind in the region, supporting NAQUA’s vision for sustainable growth and expanded production capacity.
The signing ceremony was held with distinguished guests in attendance, including Ms. Marianne Sivertsen Næss, Norway’s Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy, and Mr. Johan Christopher Vibe, Norwegian Ambassador to Spain. Their presence underlines the strength of Norwegian-Saudi cooperation in the aquaculture sector and highlights the international importance of this collaboration.
The agreement was formally signed by Dr. Dusan Munjin, Chief Aquaculture Officer at NAQUA. Representing MAT-KULING were Mr. Taner Bilgic, General Manager & CTO, and Mr. Bjørn Dørum, Chairman of the Board.
