Land Based Aquaculture & Sustainable Food Security
Both UAE and KSA are currently taking measures to ensure optimum food security.
Recently UAE announced a large Investment in land-based aquaculture. The Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners “channeled investments in 8F Asset Management’s land-based aquaculture fund, which reached its final close of $358.8 million,” according to RAS Tech Magazine. It is worth mentioning that 8F owns Pure Salmon which has multiple RAS projects in Poland, Japan, France and the United States.
In KSA, NEOM, in agreement with Tabuk Fish Company is planning for a fish farm with a production capacity of 70 million eggs. This will make NEOM the biggest hatchery in the MENA region according to Arab News.
The development of land based aquaculture is a common hotspot for both countries, promoting a healthy lifestyle for people in respect with the environment. Saudi Vision 2030 & KSA GIGA Projects
Saudi Vision 2030 is a strategic framework to reduce Saudi Arabia’s dependence on oil, diversify its economy, and develop public service sectors such as health, education, infrastructure, recreation, and tourism.
KSA has plenty of projects in the works which include investments from SEVEN, Cinépolis, Triple 5, Six Flags Majid Al Futtaim and the Al Hokair Group. The Qiddiya giga project will be surpassing Walt Disney World in Florida, USA, according to Blooloop. Saudi Alakaria signed $5 billion agreement with Triple 5 to develop tourist destination: SAGIA according to Reuters.
